Acceptable use policy

Butter is operated by AMK Capital, trading as Butter. This policy sets out the rules for using our app and services. By using Butter you agree to follow it. If you break these rules we may remove content, suspend features or close your account.

Permitted use

Butter is for home cooks to take part in a weekly cooking club. You may use the app to view recipes, cook along, share your own versions of dishes, take part in invention challenges and interact with other members in a respectful way.

Prohibited conduct

You must not use Butter to:

  • Post, upload or share any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, discriminatory or otherwise objectionable.
  • Share recipes, instructions or advice that is dangerous, misleading or likely to cause injury, illness or harm.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity, or create multiple accounts to evade suspension or restrictions.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the app, other users’ accounts, our servers or related systems.
  • Use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access, monitor or copy content from Butter.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, worms, trojan horses or any other harmful or disruptive code.
  • Sell, resell, sublicense, reverse-engineer, decompile or commercially exploit any part of Butter without our written permission.
  • Use Butter to send spam, phishing messages, chain letters or unsolicited communications.
  • Engage in fraud, money laundering or any other unlawful financial activity.

Content you share

You keep ownership of your photos and recipes. By posting them you give us permission to display them within Butter to other members. You are responsible for making sure your content is accurate, safe to follow and does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may review, edit or remove content that we believe breaks this policy or applicable law.

Enforcement

We may take any action we consider appropriate for breaches of this policy, including issuing warnings, removing content, temporarily or permanently suspending accounts, cancelling memberships without refund where the breach is serious, and reporting illegal activity to the relevant authorities.

If you see content or behaviour that breaks this policy, please email us at contact@butterapp.co.uk. We aim to review reports within two business days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published here with the date at the top.
